Shawn Sullivan Artist-Painter

Shawn Sullivan has known he has wanted to be an artist since he was in the second grade. A Californian by birth (1957), most of his early education was spent in the New York City public school system, which at the time, encouraged students to major in subject areas such as art, music, etc.. During his high school years his family moved to Long Island, where he continued to major in art and was encouraged by his teachers to attend art school. He continued his studies, eventually attaining his Masters in Fine Art degree. Shawn's relentless pursuit of his craft  led him to the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, where he studied classical still life and portrait painting  for three years. He has been regularly exhibiting his work since 1982 and has managed to maintain a professional portfolio while holding down a full time job as a high school art teacher. His current body of work features mostly still-lifes, with the occasional figure painting , landscape or interior. Shawn works strictly from life and from direct observation.
